“We Believe”

Big Idea of the Series: Do Christians have nonnegotiable beliefs, and if so, what are they? This eight-week series looks at eight key topics in evangelical theology that all Christians agree about. Our faith will be challenged as we ask ourselves, “When it comes to my beliefs, what is important and why?”

This Summer, your students will be enjoying some cool events on Wednesday Nights like swimming, eating snow cones and playing games. We will also be taking a few minutes each night to discuss some of the core beliefs that all Christians should have. 

Be praying for our students and leaders as we begin a summer of fun and learning. I have listed the topics below if you would like to read each week and discuss as a family.

Week 1

Text: 2 Timothy 3:16–17

Big Idea of the Message: God’s Word is a tool that teaches us and protects our lives and our faith.

Week 2

VBS – No bible study Wednesday night

Week 3

Text: Genesis 1:1–2:25

Big Idea of the Message: God the Father created everything that exists out of nothing.

Week 4

Text: Philippians 2:5–11

Big Idea of the Message: God in the flesh, Jesus Christ, died on the cross, rose from the dead, and ascended to heaven. Christ will return to earth one day for all of his people.

Week 5

Text: Acts 1:8; 2:1–47

Big Idea of the Message: The Holy Spirit comes to live within us when we trust in Jesus as our Savior. He provides the Christian with strength, wisdom, guidance, and spiritual gifts to build up the church and spread the gospel.

Week 6

Text: Genesis 3:1–24; Mark 7:14–23

Big Idea of the Message: God created us to live in relationship with him, but the first humans chose to rebel against God and brought sin in the world. Since that time, all have sinned, and that sin separates us from God.

Week 7

Text: Romans 3:21–26

Big Idea of the Message: God’s grace is greater than our sin.

Week 8

Text: Acts 2:42–47

Big Idea of the Message: The church is the body of Christ, consisting of believers worldwide. God has called believers to gather in local churches.
